Your New Journey

Are you ready for today to be special?

From here.....we start.  Start today on a new journey in your life.  Let today be day one.  It's never too late to push restart.  Here goes.....let DAY ONE begin!

Why are you ready? Do you feel like you've been wanting to press reset for a while?  Are you committed to feeling better starting today? After spending a great deal of time thinking about your future, now you can dig deep and start making plans as you plan the future you love.

Change your mind and change your life!

There are so many ways to start.  A few things to think about first.

Fitness - What level are you at?  Where do you feel comfortable and confident that you can go?  Do you believe that fitness is important to your overall well-being?  It really doesn't take a lot of exercise to make a difference in your life.  Starting with just a small commitment of 2 days per week of walking every morning or evening is a start.  Don't overwhelm yourself with huge expectations.  Start small and grow a little every day.

Time - How much time can you set aside each day to start toward your goals?  25 minutes?  45 minutes? One hour each day?

Commitment - This is the hardest part.  Speak it.  Believe it.  Tell people.  Tell yourself.  One step at a time.  It's time to take your life back.  It really is your choice.  People who have lived through horrible circumstances have gone forward to create a new life. There are so many inspirational people who have suffered through things like war and other awful events, and they still continue to move forward and become an inspiration to us all.  You can find their stories if you search for them.

Reading, Movies and Music - There are thousands of books out there to inspire you to eat healthier, exercise, take part in adventuresome activities, play music, travel, seek education and so much more.  Look for books by real people who you admire and let them inspire you with their stories.  I love watching movies that encourage positive outlooks on life.  There are so many real life stories that are exciting to watch and can give us countless years of inspiration to keep pushing forward despite our struggles.  Change up your music station and try something new.  Maybe some Classical music.  You may be surprised how fun it is to start digging into the millions of songs out there that you haven't heard yet.  These things are a great way to immerse yourself in something positive and bring you to a new direction in life.  Start your day with an upbeat song and wiggle around a little.  Before long you may find yourself dancing!

IT'S TIME TO REINVENT YOURSELF.  TODAY IS DAY ONE.

Here's what you can do......

Start with some basic yoga.  Meditate.  Get in touch with your body.  Slow down everything a little at a time.  Breath more, literally.  Breath slower.

Practice self care.  Listen to music that makes you get up and dance a little every day.  Learn new things and let your brain grow at any age.

Set aside time for yourself.  In fact, schedule it daily.  Let go of guilt by focusing on the goal.  The goal is you.  The goal is health.  Health is wealth.  Healthier minds and bodies live better and longer.  Yes, you CAN do this.  You can.  I struggle with life's difficulties just like everyone, but I know that there is always a reason to keep getting up every morning and trying again.

I've heard this profound saying from Dr. Joe Dispenza....he says "The body is always talking to the mind and the mind is always talking to the body".  With that, listen and talk and listen some more.  Let the mind and body do their thing and let your life follow it.  Take back control of your life, your emotions, your reactions, your goals, your spare time.  Stop your mind from wandering to dark places and stay on track.  Now is a great time to start.

How should you start to exercise?

First.....stretch.  Try some yoga.  You can find online classes for free.

Dive into some Meditation.  Not sure how?  Use Google and you should find some wonderful free introduction resources.

Walking in nature.  If you can walk, then give it a try.  See how you feel after just a short stroll through a park or outdoor area.  Listen to the birds, feel the sun and wind on your face.

Are you disabled?  That's ok, wheel yourself through nature.  Have someone else put you in a setting where you can witness and/or feel nature and take it in.  Look at it.  Witness it.  Feel it.  Love it.  Embrace it.  It's a natural antidepressant.

Even if it's only a few leg lifts or toe raises, you can start to move your body a little bit each day, and then a little more the next day.

What's the key?  Accountability.  It's always lacking accountability that allows most of us to fail.  Seek out a partner to walk with or someone who can encourage you.

Yoga is one of the only approaches to health that assists in keeping your body healthy, strong, and flexible while simultaneously providing mental clarity and emotional well-being. Available to any level of experience, you can combine ancient tradition with innovation. Make this YOUR practice and do what works for your body.

You'll see and feel your body healing itself when you care for it and allow for more "rest and digest". You’ll notice immediate benefits to your health when you use preventative health care and natural exercise for fitness of the body and mind.
